Comments: My father Lieutenant Myron J Barnett was in the 148th Engineer Combat Battalion, and served in Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, and Germany. He received a Bronze star for his work on a Bailey Barge Bridge over the Mouse River in Liege Belgium. I know he helped to build,or repair several bridges in France and Germany but do not know exactly where, also he went in on D-Day but not sure what beach I think it was Utah.
My father passed away in 1975 and I am trying to verify different places he was at during WWII. If anybody has any information they could share with me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I tried to post it here but it won't paste or my skill set is poor...likely the latter.

Comments: My Great Uncle was Jerome,J. Massoth who served with the 344th Regiment E Company. He passed away several years ago but I started going through his DD214 to build a shadowbox for my Mother who looked after him in his last years. My mother also opened his peraonal box of belongi,gs and found his orignal maps tracking his units movementsduring the war. He also has a book of the command he was attached to at FT Shelby, 86th I do believe. His Indiana National Guard Engineer Company 113th was assigned to the 86th. Its like a school yearbook of sorts. There is also a,really old book of the 344th and there entire involvement in World War 2. Alao turns out we have his original Ribbons and an Original and very rare 344th Regiment Insignia Pin which is now going in the shadow box.

Great site.

Comments: Like virtually every post here, I am the son of a WW2 veteran-Joseph Vettraino, who was a Michigan Engineer in Co. B of the 554th Hv Pon Bn. He died 9 yrs ago today, which is why I was reminded to do some more research for him. I found your website and the link to the 554E book and thought I hit the jackpot. Years ago I accompanied him to a couple of his reunions in Grand Rapids, MI. It was truly an honor. Thank you for your work and keeping the memory alive for all those who served.
Admin reply: I am so pleased that you found my site. Makes my day. Sorry for your loss.

Comments: My father was Edward Stapinski. He achieved the rank of corporal. I have several souvenirs that he brought home with him. These included pictures of bridges that they built. Unfortunately he died of a heart attack in December of 1948. I was only 2 at the time. My only memories and stories of him are from my mother and other relatives.
Admin reply: I'm glad you found my site. So sorry for your early loss in life.
