Comments: my sister, Marcia Brown, just signed in. Our father, Harry O. Peterson (Pete) was with Bill Gentry throughout the was. The last time they were together was about 10 years ago when Marcia & I took Dad (from Syr NY) to see Bill & Peter Schmid, who lived nearby - at Bill's house in Yakama Valley; the 3 of them just smiled at one another, overlooking that beautiful countryside - I cry when I think of that moment. I'll try to scan more photos...
Admin reply: Oh how wonderful.I just got a bit misty-eyed myself. Thanks for posting.

Comments: To Bill's kids ~ I lost your contact info when my computer crashed. So good to be able to just Google Bill's name and come up with this! Bill, Peter Schmit and my dad, Harry Peterson, were in a tent together for three years. Dad passed several years ago so it's our generation that is left to keep the memories. You Dad's diary is such a treasure. Hope to hear from you.

Comments: I'm looking for information on the 208th Combat Engineers or other engineer battalions that trained at Camp Breckinridge. Do you have such information?
The 284th trained there as well. I've been in contact with the webmaster.

Comments: Thanks for a great website. I am presently working on a book honoring the servicemen and women of World War Two from Clay County, West Virginia. One of the casualties from Clay County is PFC Ralph Fitzwater who was KIA 1 or 2 March 1944 (records differ as to actual day). If anyone has any information on him, please share. Memories of all our fallen of so long ago are fading so quickly. Much gratitude to all our veterans.

Comments: My Dad was also in the 160th Engineer Combat Battalion. His name is Edwin Blasingim and I also have his book. I see that your Dad was in C company. I have tried to see his picture in the book but the detail is not good and with a magnifying glass I think I have spotted him in the second platoon, standing, fourth from the right, maybe not. My Dad was the first sergeant in B company. My Dad is 98 and remembers some things very well in detail. Evidently he did not know your Dad personally. When I was younger I had little interest in the things he told me but more and more I am interested and appreciative. I am so thankful for what our fathers did for this country and for us. My Dad has shared many accounts from those days and if you are interested I would share some of them with you. I wish I could have thanked your Dad personally. Glen Blasingim
