Comments: My father served in the 720th Railway Operating Batallion in WWII from about Dec of 42 until unit returned in Jan 1945. He, like so many WWII vets, did not talk of his service. When he passed away, we found some pictures (and some of death camps), his discharge papers and not a whole lot more. If anybody knows more of this unit, I'd appreciate hearing about it!

Comments: I am Thomas Rapsinski the eldest son of George Rapsinski who served in the Army from June 11, 1942 to December 21, 1945. His discharge paper stated that he was discharged from Company I - 7th Infantry Regiment – 3rd Infantry Division. As many WWII Veterans he did not talk about his war experience. I have tried to obtain his service records but they were destroyed by a fire in storage. He was in 6 Battles which included Algeria - French Morocco, Tunisia, Naples- Foggia, Rome – Arno and the Rhineland. I would appreciate any information on my father and his war service.

Comments: My grandfather, Richard Sheldon Ford was a PFC with the 148th Engineers Combat Battalion and also built the Rhine Bridge over the Rhine River also known as Hodges Bridge. He also fought in the Battle of the Bulge. If their is anyone else with other information about his group please contact me either through this or via cell phone at 860-307-9665. I would like to know if their is anyone out there that has any images or any other history about the 148th.
Comments: What a surprise to see my photo online as well as some of my father, Robert E (Bob) Mitchell from the 235th reunions. Those were very special times for him.
Sadly, we lost him to leukemia in July 2008.
Thanks for wonderful memories!

Comments: My grandfather served in WWII (enlisted 6/1943) in the A. 643 Engineers (C) BN, is what the paperwork says. He was stationed in Italy. I am in the process of finding out more about his service. Any suggestions about where to look would be appreciated. I have located his name and some information on the National Archives.gov website. I would like to learn what unit he was in but have not acquired his DD214 yet. Thanks
