Janet made me aware of this engineer. Thought some of you might want to read his memoirs, as posted on the Veteran's History Project site.

 

Please note; there appears to be an error on his pages stating he was at Normandy, but we feel this is due to a lack of research on the part of the interviewer/person who posted info.

 

I think anytime anyone hears France and WWII, they make the immediate assumption a soldier landed at Normandy. As all my very informed and well-educated readers know, that is not always true. Many simple aren't aware of the HUGE invasion force which landed in southern France on August 1944, and this is where the 344th WERE at this point in time.
