From Gilles:

Hello my friends in the 36th,

I just found this picture, the caption only says:

INVASION INTERMEZZO--THE IMMEDIATE OBJECTIVES OF HIS

UNIT SAFELY TAKEN, THIE AMERICAN SOLDIER RELAXES WHILE

AWAITING FURTHER ORDERS BY STRETCHING OUT ON UNPACKED

SUPPLIES, LISTENING TO RECORDS ON A PORTABLE

PHONOGRAPH. THE SCENE WAS ONE OF THE SIDELIGHTS OF

THE INVASION OF SOUTHERN FRANCE ON JULY 15, 1944.

Im pretty sure this is a 36th engr photo on yellow

beach, telling from the SP armbands and the nets on

helmets. The dodge WC behind seems to have the marking

3-30 or 3-15 which would be correct for yellow beach.

im copying on this email my friend John Shirley who

landed on Yellow beach on aug 15th 1944.

all the best Gilles
