From Russ Weiskircher, 45th Inf Div WWII. AWESOME! It's on our TV calendar!!!!!
==========
Greetings family and friends!
Sunday, Nov 15th, the History Channel will air a terrific program on WW2, presenting many never before seen photos and facts. I urge you to check it out. I was privileged to see the rushes and to be a consultant for a portion on WW2 in Europe. Air time is 9pm eastern.

Wow, can't believe no one else is watching or following this.
We are watching the third night in the row, and this is great stuff. The film footage is incredible and the show is extremely well done. I can't wait to watch it from the beginning again. And of course Gary Sinise is narrating, so I like it even more.
Gonna add this to my collection.

Better Believe that Dogdaddy is a' watchin' if it's about WWII, M1!
I've watched every episode thus far also, and I think it's a shade more interesting than the Ken Burns series was, although I liked that one too. This series really does have some very touching moments as you listen to these Veterans recounting the feelings they experienced...like the Captain who was badly wounded and fighting to hang onto his life, but kept on going until he finally met another American who turned out to be a medic named.... Jesus.

Ya, that was a great point in last night's episode. We are both completely enamored with the series, and me thinks I shall ask for it for Christmas. Sounds like a good thing to add to the Santa wish list!
We noticed they used a segment, which I use within the first chapter of my documentary, and was acquired from my buddy Jason, at the 60th Inf Reg. Look hun I asked, recognize that?

Terrific!
I missed the episode last night, but it will be repeated tonight before the NEXT episode. Looking forward to it.
Once again, bravo to the production crew and writers!

The story of the Samuel B. Roberts and the other heroic destroyer and destroyer escort ships who took on the Jap Task force at Leyte has always been a very emotional thing for me, no matter how often I've heard it. It was a David vs, Goliath battle, and those brave American sailors were punching out of their weight class (Go Navy!) and keep punching until the Japs turned tail, despite suffering the loss of the ship and most of the crew. If that story doesn't make you proud to be an American then nothing will. This is just one of many heroic actions of the US Navy in WWII that need to be remembered for all time.

Are we talking about WWII in HD? I'm watching that right now and it's awesome. I was thinking about what would have happened if the German commander at normandy would have followed directions and had all his troops on the beach. 10,000 casualties would have been much more.
Thinking of our WWII vets while watching. Am I going to be some old fart on an Iraq war discussion forum in 50 years? I wonder. . . Here's to our fine old farts!!!!!

I'm still trying to decide on a Christmas gift for a very dear old friend of mine that I've been friends with since 3rd grade. I had been planning on giving him a subscription to WWII magazine, but now I think I might buy him this fine DVD set instead (even though it won't be delivered until January of 2010!).
The last episode ended just a few minutes ago and it was really an excellent documentary in every way. I'm so glad that we have The History Channel to make World War II "come alive" to so many generations of American children and younger adults (and other nations) who have such a limited understanding of who the participants were, and why this war had to be won.

Guess I'll have to catch it on a re-run. A guy from work watched it and he said it was great Hopefully they'll show it again soon and better yet all in the same day!!!
God bless those heroes who suffered and died, for plain folks, like you and me.
War is a crime. Ask the infantry and ask the dead.
I received mine in the mail about a week ago. I'm watching it tonight again (w/o "HD"). Really an outstanding documentary covering both the ETO and Pacific campaigns.
