How to Hide an Aircraft Factory
During World War II the Army Corps of Engineers needed to hide the Lockheed Burbank Aircraft Plant to protect it from a Japanese air attack. They covered it with camouflage netting and trompe l’oeil to make it look like a rural subdivision from the air.

I had heard about these camoflaged factories but not seen such good pictures before.
Here in England during the war they split the military factories up into small units and spread them all over the country so a single air attack would not stop production.
There are stories of fake factories being built to divert the bombers away from the actual factories and other built up areas. This was apparently very succesful as the fake factories would be surrounded by AA guns, etc. so quite a few bombers were shot down whilst bombing plywood buildings and inflatable dummy planes, etc.
I wonder what happened to the camo netting afterwards, you could make a fortune selling it by the square yard on ebay!
