LOL!!!

Well, I just submitted my article to the editor. YIKES! I also sent a photo for the cover and several for inclusion for the story. I finished three weeks before the deadline. What a great feeling (I'm dancing around the house right now)! :zelda: Funky chicken? :frown: I hope it's what Col Mike was looking for.

I'd like to offer some advice (if I may), to those who love to write; use Adobe's Read-Aloud feature. I've been using it for a couple of years now. I write in WORD, and then save a copy in Adobe Reader format (pdf file). Then I open the pdf file and go the pull-down menu, VIEW/READ OUT LOUD, and tell it to ACTIVATE the feature. Next go back to same menu and click on one of the listed options such as, Read to End of Document. I find it an invaluable tool and you can HEAR your words. You can "see" if you words flow and will catch things your eyes don't see. I find it makes me a much better writer. Try it sometime. :pdt34:

I just received the latest issue of Army Engineer Magazine, and I'm thrilled to share it with all of you.

The photo I submitted to Mike, was used for their cover, and was given to me by one of our Alger Market customers, Allison Chmielewski. It was amongst the images brought back from Europe by her father, Al Hutchings, a 297th Engineer. My article is one of three, used for their tribute - Salute to WWII Army Engineer Veterans.

Once again, many thanks to Col Mike Morgan for his excellent work as editor in chief, and for asking me to be a contributing writer for this wonderful issue. Many thanks to "my engineers" and their families for their continued support and inspiration. It's a great honor to be part of all this.

Humbly yours,

M1

I was just sitting outside enjoying the cooler temps after today's thunder-boomers, and was scanning the pages of Army Engineer mag. I turned to Mike's editorial page - An Independent View, and was surprised, delighted and tickled to see my name, along with my buddy Mari, whose article also appears in this issue.

I had no idea I was going to be mentioned in his editorial, and feel SO very honored to be included on his page. I am also including Mari's article, (her father is a 297th Engineer), as well as the article written by my dear friend, WWII veteran and writer, Max Schwartz, 1306th Engineer General Service Regiment.

Editorial

March of the Damned - Max Schwartz

Buddies Then & Now - Mari Ippolito

Essayons Mike, Mari and Max (I just realized we are all M's. Oh no, Mr Bill, the "M's" are taking over the world... :frown:

Okay I'm very sad... I posted my latest article here 8 days ago and...

I also sent it out to the everyone on my VI Corps list (all the vets of the 540th, 36th, 39th, and 1108th and all their families), and not one response in 8 days. Oh well...

Sign me,

Disappointed author

Don't be sad. I was going print it out at work (printer down here) so that I can read it on hard copy. But we had an agency wide upgrade to Office 2007. I was down for a whole day and a half of another and the rest of the time I've been learning how to use my WORD and EXCEL all over again. Since I'm so slow on the puter now, it's taking me longer to get my usual work done.

It's slowly sinking in. I couldn't get into training until the 23rd and the 27th. Isn't it just like the goverment to give training AFTER the upgrade?!?

Will print it soon, promise ;)
