Sad to say, but I can't think of one single Holiday in this country that bears any resemblance to what they meant when I was growing up...can you? Kids don't even have to recite the pledge of allegiance in school anymore, but that's not the kids fault.

 

MEMORIAL DAY

God Bless all you Veterans who died in combat, and never lived to raise kids or become a grandfather/mother. You were too young to vote, and too young to even take a legal drink of alcohol in the country you died defending. I promise never to forget you, both the young and the old..... for your ultimate sacrifice.

I'd like to pay my respects by posting this picture taken by me just above the beach in Licata, Sicily. It has special signifigance for me and is a fitting tribute on Memorial Day.
