Agree Jiggers, I get tired of people looking back and pointing out the deficencies with strategies employed 60 years ago.

War is war, it sucks, bad sh*t happens and the one underlying constant is that men will make mistakes. No one knows how they will react under those circumstances until it actually happens.

Sitting back and pointing fingers 60 years after the fact serves no purpose and in my eyes, diminishes what those Marines achieved. I understand the need for us to learn from our mistakes so as not to repeat them but there is no point in this type of stuff. Leave the politics out of it, make it analytical and I'm good with it.

I can't say I disagree with either of you on this subject. Thought it would bring up some good discussion. It's more Monday morning quarterbacking.

Yes there were many SNAFUS made during the war and if we could sit back and analyze each battle of the war, I'm sure we could come up with better tactics, but the past is past and many of the generals at the time thought they were doing the best things possible for the whole war picture.

All I can see is if Ted Kennedy was around in WWII I might be typing in this in Japanese.

To some people everything the US has done since it's inception has involved one evil ulterior motive after another. Seemingly most of these types work for the LA, NY Times, Wash. Post ect.
