Concerning : Nurse Augusta Chiwy - will receive medal from the Belgian King.

Dear friends,

 

After a lot of lobbying, pressure on the file, letters to the King, finally nurse Augusta Chiwy, 90 years old soon,

will receive an honorable distinction by the Belgian King.

The medal is one of the highest honors one can get, it's called 'Knight in the Order of the Crown'.

 

Ms. Chiwy is the nurse portrayed in the Band of Bothers serial as the friend nurse of Renée Lemaire in the

Episode on Bastogne. Ms. Lemaire died in the tragic night of 24 December 1944, Christmas Eve,

because of the German bombing of the City. Nurse Chiwy survived.

 

Both were helping 24 hours a day to save the lives of the wounded members of the 10th Armored Division,

in the center of Bastogne.

 

As one notices, even after 67 years we don't forget history and we don't forget anybody, and we never will.

We will always honor all who put their lives on the line for democracy and a better world.
