And I won't forget the men who died, Who gave that right to me."

Thanks Larry, I watch if there's a map of the area that interests me!
I saved maps really interesting, but I would need also maps such as those featured on this website http://www.mtmestas.com/Maps/index.htm I have already checked all maps of the site but there are none of the area that I have indicated.
Thanks again for your help!

Would you be interested in any maps I have in Engineer History Mediterranean Theater - Fifth Army? It's a three volume set which was given to me by the late and great Al Kincer of the 48th Engineers.
I took a quick look this morning and in Volume Two, there are some maps of Florence, Milan and Bologna.
I can scan them for you.

Enrico I am at present reading WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN? written by TOM CARVER who is the step-grandson of Field Marshal Montgomery. Tom's father Richard Carver was seving with his stepfather General Montgomery in 1942 at his HQ in North Africa when he was captured and transported to FONTANELLATO POW camp, north of PARMA. The book tells of Tom Carver's journey on foot, from the pow camp, south over the Appennines for 500 miles till he found and rejoined the Allied HQ in the winter of 1943.
It is well written and contains photos and maps so might be of interest to you if you have not come across it before.
Colin.
(I have also put this post into the books section of the forum)
Thank you Colin, very interesting. I will try to find a copy of the book!
I'm curious to read this incredible story!

"Just before the new year, the 34th Division was relieved in the line and went back to the vicinity of Pietramala and the Radicosa Pass for a little rest and training. As a training vehicle it had to choose and begin the construction of a belt of defenses, whose task it would have been to prevent any remotely possible German thrust from cutting the lateral highway between Highway 65 and the east, pending the organization of a counter-attack force to restore the original line. By now it had snowed heavily, and the hardships of digging in the frozen, rocky ground and of working instruments in the vicious wind made this so-called rest period almost as much strain as service in the line, for Radicosa Pass was practically at the summit of the Apennines."
I saw a beautiful picture of Radicosa Pass (now called Raticosa pass) where the Signal Battalion, had erected a huge sign saying Merry Christmas and a beautifull Christmas tree.
Pietramala Radicosa is 200 meters below the Radicosa pass.
Also right now (I had a leap to the heart) I found a picture of some soldiers, and I recognized the place where I go often to do research. I had never seen this picture before, it's wonderful!

And I would add, great photo! The incredible thing is that in the death cold, in a faraway land and in war, the soldiers have not forgotten the Christmas, surely that was a way to feel at least a little at home.
