My Dad served with the 1298th Combat Engineers Battalion during WWII. Unit was activated June 1944 at Camp Rucker, Alabama and deactivated January 1946 in Japan. I have platoon photos of Company B which has 1st, 2nd, and 3rd platoons and a fourth platoon listed simple as Company B. Would that not be 4th platoon?? I guess my question is about platoon structure within a Combat Engineers Battalion. Any help would be appreciated.
