Randy and Gary,
I've got the 1149th Ops Reports and an official history of the 292nd from creation until they "entered the war for Germany." Also, so papers related to a reunion of the battalion in about 2002. I was on their mailing list for a while, don't know what ever became of the group. There is quite a lot of paper, so I hope Gary doesn't mind scanning...
Pete
Pete,
Scan baby, scan! The more the merrier and I will take anything you are willing to provide. This stuff gets my blood pumpin'!!

Gary,
This stuff will be a good foundation to the history of the 1149th and especially the 292nd. It will be worth it, I'm so glad you're willing to undertake this. By the way, how can I attach a photo to my post? I have a couple of my uncle that might be of interest to our 292nd brethren.

Thanks Gary! Here's my uncle, Dean Belmonte, later in Co. C, 292nd ECB. This photo is at Fort Sheridan, February 1944. He is in the very front row of crouching men, third from the left.

Very cool, Pete! Anyone have any ideas what the numbers denote on both Pete and my basic images?

Alright, Folks,
This is just the beginning and a work in progress in not only design, but mainly while we look to identify more of the soldiers in the image. Take a look and see what you think.

Hi, Gary,
Sterling Sykes is the 11th man on the second row.
11th from the left, that is. I'm afraid I don't have any info about others.

Lisa,
Thanks, Lisa! We'll all keep diggin' and over time hopefully be able to ID more and more of the men. If anyone finds out more info or discovers any mistakes that I may have made please don't hesitate to let me know. Let me add on your Dad and I'll post an updated version shortly.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I hope to be an active part in this community! Most of what my uncle sent home from his service before his death, was sadly lost in a fire in the 1950's. I am going to look through my Dad's stuff to see if he has anything from Uncle Charlie that I might be able to share. I currently only have 1picture of my uncle, which is a photocopy. I have already learned more about my Uncle, and his fate from you folks, than I had learned all of my life, so I thank you all. I dont even think my Dad or any of his brothers ever learned of how Charlie died. So I am grateful for that information Gary! I will definitely be looking to get a copy of that picture provided by Lisa, of the unit. It will be a treat to see not only my uncle, but those men he shared his service with.
Thanks again,
Steve
ps: Yes, I was born and still reside in Ohio, between Akron and Cleveland.
Steve,
Found a few tidbits about your uncle that maybe you don't have which I have attached. Also, we are trying to ID as many of the men as possible in the company photo so if you could take a look at the copy I just posted and locate your uncle I will update the ID on the image. Also, is the image that I found that of your Uncle?
Thanks, my friend,
Gary

Gary, I don't have a clue about the numbers on the photos, I was wondering that myself.

Great job Gary, I like it a lot! I was hoping you would do something like this with the photo. It will be nice to get as many of the men identified as we can. Keep up the good work my friend!
