Our great Seahorse soldier Henry Papa died. He had been in a VA home for a few years because he was blind. He was one I feel very personal about because he was in my platoon. Once during the deep snow of the Vosges in January '45 he asked me to please slow down. He said, LIeutenant I have a daughter older than you which was a bit of an exaggeration but It was very tough. Soon after that he helped me stop my Platoon Sergeant from shooting himself and fortunately we were able to bring him back to normal after a rest. Henry sent me a card every Christmas until he went blind and I will miss him. May he rest in peace.

Dear John:

As I stated to you in a private email, this one is especially tough for you because this was someone from your platoon, and you shared the good and bad throughout the war on a daily basis. :pal:

We shall have a special toast to Henry at the reunion this week. Here's to Henry. RIP! :pdt34:
